My Doctor Recently Did My Annual Blood Test - The

My doctor recently did my annual blood test - the rest of my physical is perfect - weight in the proper ranger, bmi, etc ... all good -- but my cholesterol is all out of whack. I asked if it could have been impacted by something I ate or drank and he said it could have been something I ate or drank weeks ago and it stays in your system. He wants to put me on lipitor and retest me in 3 months. I do not eat red meat, I rarely eat fried or fast foods - I am mostly salads etc .... however I do drink 1 sugar free red bull almost every day - but I also consume a great deal of water (both plain and sparkling like lacroix) .... I have looked around and can only find a handful of "natural" options including GNC's Healthy Cholesterol formula and NatureMade's CholestOff but I am unsure if those would work. What if anything do you suggest as I would prefer not to take the lipitor (once people get on those things they tend to not get off of them) -- I just turned 50 years old, married with one child. Here is my lipid numbers:

Cholesterol     100 - 199 mg/dL     261
TRIGLYCERIDES     0 - 149 mg/dL     177
HDL Cholesterol     >39 mg/dL     76
According to ATP-III Guidelines, HDL-C >59 mg/dL is considered a
negative risk factor for CHD.
VLDL Cholesterol Cal     5 - 40 mg/dL     35
LDL Cholesterol Calculated     0 - 99 mg/dL     150
Total Non-HDL-C (LDL+VLDL)     0 - 129 mg/dL     185

THANKS!!! : )
