Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My friend had a kidney transplant in 2006 in Jan 2016 he was in the U of Pennsylvania and they told him his fistula was clogged and put him on warfarin. He has been taking warfarin since then he was back in the hospital Feb. 16 to 19 due to swelling in lower extremities. He was told in Feb 8 he had IGA nephropathy and his blood pressure has been out of control. The primary doctor does not want to be responsible for the INR and warfarin control. He sent him to a hematologist who wanted to put him on Xalroto we were not happy with this outcome. I wrote to nephrologist and he said that he could not take because no clinical trials were done. Yesterday the doctor called and said they want to put him on Eliquis. We are very leary about this medication because it states that if swollen call doctor immediately every night he is swollen because of blood pressure and kidney problems. Also there is not a antidrug like vitamin K for warfarin. With all of the issue he has this is very scary. Can you please give us your input maybe positives and negatives. They keep changing all of his other medications all the time just trying to get IGA neuropathy and blood pressure under control. It just seems to throw another thing into the mix.....Please Help your opinion really counts Carolyn Godshall 267 471 9149 YYYY@YYYY
