My husband got bitten by a spider, probably a brown recluse, last weekend. Around the same time he started having trouble urinating. He had the urge, but very little urine came out, and when it did it burned. Yesterday he went to a urologist who seemed unconcerned with the spider bite. There were traces of blood in the urine as well as sugar, but no signs of infection. He had an ultrasound today of the kidneys and bladder, but we do not know the results. The doctor gave him a medication to allow better urine flow and something to stop the burning sensation.
Today he woke up with excruciating pain in his lower back and groin and can hardly walk. He used a cane to get to the ultrasound.
Could the spider bite have caused this type of reaction or is it just a concidence? I am concerned about hemolysis and renal failure. His bite has a blue/purple ring around the fang marks.
