My Neice Has Factor VIII Bleeding Disorder, Newly Diagnosed. She

My neice has Factor VIII bleeding disorder, newly diagnosed. She is forty years of age. Drs found she has a problem absorbing Folate (folic acid) Are the two conditions related, if not what causes problem absorbing folic acid? She had stomach bypass surgery a few years ago, lost a large amount of weight, and now has a six year old son, who also has Factor VIII.
