My Son, Age 19, Has Been Diagnosed As Bipolar 2.

My son, age 19, has been diagnosed as Bipolar 2. His symptoms are now under control with medicines. I am uncertain of what expectations for him are rational. He is very intelligent but has NO motivation to work or go to college and stays inside most of the day. Is in unreasonable to expect him to do chores, get a job, go to school? Can he live independently? I see no reason why he can't, but his symptoms were severe for years and I am at my wits end on how to get help him prepare for the future so that he can live independently. Please a advice. Please. And Thank you.
