My son was recently released from a cardiac care unit. His diagnosis was acute systolic congestive heart failure, ASHD, cardiomegaly, dislipidemia and pleural effusion. He has suffered 3 heart attacks in the past. His cardiologist has told him that his heart is functioning at 20% and because there is so little viable muscle remaining, his only option is an implant. I can't help but feel that we should make every day count at this point. My son however seems to think that he can continue on without the implant. I don't want to be the voice of doom when it comes to my only son, but I would like to have some kind of prognosis for someone in his position. He is 49 and his father died of a heart attack at the age of 35. Thank you for your input.
