My wife, who had a knee replacement a month ago, has been recovering nicely, except that her diastolic readings have been recently in the low 40's range (her systolic has been nicely in the 120 range.) She has no adverse symptoms except some loss of energy. She has, however, been advised that she is anemic, and her doctor has recommended iron supplements, which she has been taking for a week now. Her doctor has also advised that she cut her dosage of Glimeperide from 4mg twice a day to 2mg twice a day, which she has been doing . So far the readings over the last two/three days have been 124/41, 122/42, and 126/43. Should she or I be concerned? (This is a holiday weekend and her doctor does not take calls except for emergencies).
I should mention that she is a Type 2 diabetic and has been treated satisfactorily for 20 year or so. Also, she is scheduled to have cataract surgery Tuesday morning, and we hope the low diastolic will not inhibit that procedure. Your advice?
