Occasionally (very), While I'm Eating It Seems Like Something Is

Occasionally (very), while I'm eating it seems like something is stuck in my throat. It's like a lump and it doesn't go down with water, in fact the water gets stuck. At that time and for sometimes an hour or so afterward, I force up what seems to be very, very thick mucous. The pain from the lump stops for a while, then seems to build up again until I manage to expel more mucous. I said occasionally because over the last 8 years it's probably happened 15 times. Sometimes a year seems to pass before it happens again. I haven't done anything about it because of the infrequency, but when it does happen, its disturbing.
