Several weeks ago I began having pain in my upper left back area (I could feel a knot in the shoulder blade area). This pain then went down my left arm. I bought an OTC tens unit and in less than two weeks was down to no pain. Approximately two weeks later, I got the pain in the upper right side of my back (shoulder area up to my neck). I used the tens unit again and the pain went away. However, before the pain went away, I began having a loss of sensation on my left side, chest area, front and back. It does not go down my left arm. It does not extend past my rib cage. I had x-rays done of the C-spine and T-spine. T-spine was unremarkable. C-spine showed mulitleveal mild DJD, osteoarthritis, impingement upon bilateral C6-C-7 neural foramina, evidence for disc disease at C-5-C6 and C6-C7 and reversal of normal cervical lordosis, which suggests muscular spasm. I have a history of MS and one prior PE (PT/INR are within the therapeutic range). I am currently in no pain. I have this tightness in my chest area (left side only, front and back). My only relief is laying flat which seems to make the ribs not feel so heavy. I was prescribed muscle relaxers which I continue to take and an anti-flammatory, which made me itch and was discontinued. I currently use Ibuprofen (w/doc's consent). Doctor noticed swelling in my back/shoulder area, which is why Ibuprofen was approved for a short term attempt to reduce the inflammation and swelling. Primary care doc suggested I call neurologist, which I have been doing since last week and have not received a call back. PC doc does not know what else could be wrong and has ordered an MRI of the c-spine.
