So I've Been Picking My Lip For About A Year

So I've been picking my lip for about a year now, (usually only the bottom lip) and i've never had this issue before. Regularly, I will just pull off the small piece of dead skin and move on. Other times, i'll work at a specific location until it bleeds and then stop.

Recently, i've noticed a bit of swelling near the center of my lip two bumps form near the very bottom of my lip. The spots are sore to the touch, and mildly uncomfortable. They are also red, as if it had dried blood on the top although they have yet to have bled. I plan to stop picking my lips as soon as this heals, but I don't exactly know how to do so. I've only had them on my lips for two days now, and the longer they are here the more visible they grow.

Any suggestions? I'm applying chapstick to them, though it doesn't seem to have much of an effect.
