I have a lump at the base of my rib cage. Front, center. Somewhat painful when pressong on it. I have experienced occasional nausea and vomiting not asdociated with the stomach flu. Most recently twice within one week. Prior to that approximately 2-4 weeks between episodes. Not persistent.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

The only connection between the lump on this area and the symptoms you have is a hernia. It is possible that you have a small hernia in this area causing some abdominal pain and occasional nausea and vomiting.
However more possible is that the lump is nothing more than a benign skin lesion and has nothing to do with your gastrointestinal symptoms. Your nausea can be caused by stomach issues or gallstones for example. Some diagnostics is necessary to find the reason.
I suggest you to consult general surgeon with the lump and gastroenterologist with other symptoms.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
