Suggest Treatment For Chronic Foot Swelling

Hi there! My friend has chronic foot swelling, especially at the tops of her feet, at the end of every day and into the early evening it s worse. She s 46 years old, heavy drinker and smoker, and works in the kitchen on her feet all day. I see a lot of problems right there, but it seemed to start suddenly about three months ago. No foot injury. Any theories?
