I had surgery on my ankle in 2003 to reconstruct the ligaments after several severe sprains. Since healing from the surgery and doing therapy, I sprain my ankle almost annually, if not twice a year. The other day I sprained it and swear that it felt like I dislocated it (disgusting sliding feeling on the lateral side, along with poppig). As I was falling over it felt like it popped back in. I ve heard that this is most likely impossible, but I can t think of any other way to describe it because I know what a normal Sprain feels like. This was not it. The other weird thing is, I have only a little pain on the underside of the ankle bone, both sides but NO real swelling or bruising. It feels stiff and unsteady. the doctor xrayed. No break. No fracture. Should I be concerned that the ligaments are so stretched and torn again that I ve just lost all stability in the ankle? Is it possible for it to have dislocated and gone back in place? I m scared this will happen again but the orthopedist can t see me for a while. Just curious and out of patience....
