My mother has recently (2 nights ago) come up with some red, blotchy, swollen rashes that started off looking like mosquito bites, but it spread so much and it is itching like crazy. She has been applying hydrocortisone cream and powder to ease the itching but it's still driving her crazy! She can't sleep so the morning after, we saw that it was spread so large over her upper back and shoulders, buttocks, back of the thighs, and her neck. We went to a dermatologist (I've been by her side all the time) and her diagnosed her with uticaria. She got an injection in her left arm (I've forgotten what it was called) -2mL- and later she felt very drowsy. We went home and she fell asleep. After about 2 hours, she woke up and we looked at her. She said it wasn't itchy any more. The doctor had told us that it should all clear up by the next morning. It seemed like it was clearing up, but just last night, after sitting and lying around just before we went to bed, we had a quick look. It had gotten much worse than before. It spread to her entire left arm! ( the one with the shot!) as well as her thighs, groin area, forehead, ears, neck, and all over her shoulder blades. She screamed when she saw it and cried. We considered going to a hospital, but she decided to see through the night. This morning it spread literally ALL OVER her legs down to the tops of her feet, just next to her vagina, her shoulders, wrists, her whole hands (she can't do anything because it is all so itchy) and her ears are swollen too. Everything itches and feels like its burning up. She also complains of chest pains which the doctor said could lead to fatality. I'm only a 14 year old girl who doesn't want to loses her mother. I pray everyday that she will get better, or that it doesn't get worse from now. Please tell me what she can do to ease the itching and possibly stops it from spreading more. And also what could have caused all this.
Ps: she is taking antihisthamines and using hydrocortisone cream, becausse the dermatologist said it was an allergic reaction.
Thanks from a worried 14 year old daughter,
Marion.
