My doctor prescribed Metformin for me in October. She seems to think that I have PCOS, and that I am not ovulating. She did not do a pelvic exam, but from January to August, I did not have a period on my own. I was taking progesterone from January to May to make me have them, but once I stopped...no more periods. My doctor mentioned giving my number to a fertility clinic, but I never heard back.

The Metformin seemed to be working, and I got a period two weeks ago, but two days ago I started bleeding again. How long until Metformin starts to work? I am on 850 mg once a day. I am 25. I am about 50 pounds overweight (though I am 5'9 and very broad in stature so I am not terrible large) and have been most of my life.

My husband and I are trying to conceive, and have been trying for a year. What advice can you give me? Should I try a different doctor?
