Hi,
My husband has had blood drawn twice in the past 12 months and has what appears to be a seizure both times. He has no history of this, is not on any drugs prescription or social, drinks very little, does not smoke, and is healthy overall and does not get nervous during blood taking. Nurses and doctors continue to say, don't worry about it, but when he wakes up he's in a postictal state, each time for about 15 minutes. He can see people are talking to him but he cannot get his brain or mouth etc to respond once he eventually hears them. He's also exhausted upon awaking and his neck and shoulder muscles are wrecked and seized/tense for days after.
I've read a lot about fainting and shaking but this seems to be seizures the way he is convulsing and the aftermath. Why would drawing blood cause this reaction and what is it?
I understand Dr.'s get the same kinds of questions from hundreds of people and thus their answers can be short and unelaborated but I would think that these Dr.'s would want an explanation if it were happening to them or one of their loved ones as I would.
Thank you,
Alliece
