What Causes Immobilizing Pain In The Back?

I have been diagnosed with mesentery panniculitis. 7 days ago, pain presented in my BACK, right side, and I thought it was a kidney stone (history of kidney stones in my family.) I was in severe immobilizing pain. I went to the local ER and was intravenously treated for the pain and had a CT scan done. No kidney stones found at all but they discharged me with the MS diagnosis. Said to follow up with primary. I did this and my primary is treating me with cipro and flagyl antibiotics, without admittedly knowing about this disease... my questions to you are, is that typically the proper procedure to see what specifically works for me? Where is the line that I cross to suggest that they may not be treating me correctly? What should I do to equip myself for my next appointment (which is just a follow up?) Thank you!
