What Causes Knot Under The Nipple Of A Child?

My son, who will be 12 next month, noticed that he seems to have a small knot under his right nipple. I felt it, and it didn t seem odd to me, but he doesn t have the same thing under his left nipple. Is this something to be concerned about, or is it fairly normal for his stage of development?
