What Causes Multiple Sclerosis?

My wife is suffering from MS( Multiple Sclerosis) since 2003 March. She had a demylation at the medula region. She had problem fo diouble vision, horseness of voice and other related facial nerve problems. After treating with Methyal Pred. IV 1000mg. three days. she recovered from her problems at CMC Vellore. Later after around six month she had an attack on her right eye and she lost her vision in just two days even after giving the Methyl Pred. her vison in right eye does not revive. Later in 2005 Feb. she had an attack on her left eye but immediately treating with Methyl Pred. she regain vision. The problem arises in Sep, 2005 but with the same treatment revived. after that she does not have any attack. Recently in Oct, 2010 she again have an attack in her left eye and after treating with Methyl Pred. she revived.

But again on 7th of this month she agian complaint with the same problem (Pain & Decresed Vision) in her left eye . Again she treated with Methyl. Pred. and now she is in Oral Steroid (Wysolone 60mg. / day). But this time still she complain with some decrease vision. Please suggest what to do.
