What Causes Red Spots On The Body After Taking Advil?

i fractured my 9th right rib in a fall almost a month ago. the only thing that helped the pain was advil. took 2 extra strengh 3 times a day for more than a week. Stopped two weeks ago, but still getting red pinpoint spots on my skin. look like little insect bites but don t itch. if this is a side effect of Advil that I stopped two weeks ago, why am i getting fresh spots on my arms?

Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, you need to get those reviewed by your primary care physician and rule out petechiae related to platelets disorders.

Blood counts, especially for platelets counts, as well as clotting profile, may be needed. Platelets function tests may also be needed. Meanwhile, stop Advil and wait for the test reports before any further Medical intervention.

For pain, Acetaminophen can be used. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
