What Causes Stress And Stuttering In A Person Taking Synthroid For Thyroid Disorder?

I am a 62 year old female who has been taking Synthroid since 1996. Took 50 mcg for 13 years, have been taking 100 mcg for about one year, and was just reduced today to 88 mcg. I have all the symptoms of hypothryroidism, but one recent development is concerning me, and I'm told it can be caused by low thyroid. I have been under heavy stress for 18 months now (job related), and finally lost my job in July, 2014. I have since, in the last 6 weeks or so, developed a very slight stutter (never had any difficulty before), and have trouble finding and using the correct word for what I am trying to say. It feels like being tongue-tied, is frustrating, and frightening. I have been a public speaker for years, a singer, etc., with no difficulty vocalizing. Brain fog I am used to, but not this. ??????
