What Causes Wheezing When Suffering From Asthma?

I have asthma, and for a few weeks now I ve noticed loud wheezing off and on as I breath. The last few days the wheezing has become constant, I ve noticed on occasion it s been difficult to take a deep breath, and now for the past three days I ve had a bad cough (productive at times), that causes a metallic taste in my mouth as if I had been sucking on pennies. On two occasions I ve gotten horribly chilled but never ran a fever that I could tell. Last night before I went it was as if I could hear, or more so feel a bubbling in the left side of my chest as I took a breathe in. Any ideas?
