My 3 yr old daughter has a dark, penny-sized bruise with a bump right in the center. It is on her arm, between her elbow and wrist. The bruise is reddish-brownish around the outside and purplish toward the middle and looks kind of milky right in the middle where the bump is. The milky colored bump is about the length of a pea. It does not look like an infected pore. The bruise was not there yesterday morning, but I do remember seeing a red circle in the spot yesterday sometime during the Christmas chaos, like she had bumped it against the corner of a table. It looked the way I described last night at bedtime, about 24 hours ago. Normal bruise? She did not have any major falls or cry over hurting her arm all day. Can a bruise become infected? Is the lump under the skin a sign of something concerning?
