good afternoo Dr. Thank you for your time..
I'm told by one dr i am not anemic. Yet when I go to another I am very anemic and need more lab work including stool samples. All of these lab studies are done in his building by supposedly a certified lab. I wrote down the results and hope you could shed some light please.
if you could tell me what to do. hemoglobin is 12.9 hematocrit is 41.6 mcv 82.4 mch 25.6 mchc is 31.1 plts 302. Then a nurse practitioner came into the room and told me my chemistry results and that my serum level was 8 and I was very anemic and needed to do more tests. The NP tells me not to worry because we do the tests here eccept the pelvic sonogram but he needs a stool sample. a urine test, a PSA, EKG etc. I have no symptoms yet he continues wanting me to spend me money i don't have. Now My question is how can the practioner tell me i am not anemic, that everything looks good but the very next day I'm so anemic that we're going to have to do more tests immediately. Now I have a friend who is a PA and he told me to ask my doctor to do a retickulocyte count. so I asked my dr but he said nah that I didn't need that. Does any of this sound fishy or am i being taken? Other tests done earlier say about 6 months or so were normal except the chemistry 28.. my serum iron was 10 and he wanted me to repeat all those test again.
A few days later im called back into his office and told the urine, psa, and stool samples were normal. SO NOW i'm really confused.. Any suggestions dr? Thank you for your time and hopefully you can answer and make me feel at ease.
