I Have Been On Suboxone Tablets For About 3 Yrs.

i have been on suboxone tablets for about 3 yrs. now. They are 8mg-2mg. I had carpal tunnel surgery in 2006 on both wrists. This is when I first started takin Vicoden, as that was one of the medications prescribed for me. I had no clue and was not warned that Vicodens were so addictive. Then I had neck surgery in 2009, and back surgery in 2011 which of course meant more Vicodens for pain throughout the surgeries. I heard about suboxone from a friend and found a dr. who put me on the strips, 3 a day, and last year our insurance no longer covered the strips, so I was put on the tablets. My question is how long is to long to be on the suboxone? I am getting many opinions . I ask my dr. and he said as long as I wanted to be, more or less. My husband and friends are starting to really give me alot of grief over this. Could you please give your input on my situation? I am afraid I will want to go back on Vicodens if I stop taking the suboxone pills. ( I was taking at least 20 vicodens a day for 6 years....thank you for any help you can give me.
