Question: 1. Stomach bug in family late July/early August
2. We recover in a few days but it seems to come back for me off an on. Queasy, light cramps, no appetite, fatigue. Lines up with stress from work.
3. Comes and goes every few days, often within an hour of something stressful happening.
4. See GP in early Oct. had no symptoms on day of visit. Does lipase/amylase and comp metabolic panel (14) tests. All normal.
5. Prescribed Prilosec. Take it for 3-4 days, does nothing. Get abdominal ultrasound. Symptoms return and haven’t left.
6. Try diet changes—no dairy, no caffeine, no gluten, nothing helps. Fatty foods seem to result in symptoms, notice white specks in stool, but I also eat a lot of almonds. Otherwise stool and urine normal for me.
7. Follow up with GP. Ultrasound normal but 2mm polyp on Gallbladder. Doesn’t think this is it though. Prescribes Diaxalin.
8. Diaxalin makes me lightheaded and gives me chest pain. Wind up in ER, everybody is worried about my heart nobody will talk about my stomach. In hospital overnight for heart tests (including nuclear stress test and echocardiogram) all normal. Getting more upset. Off the Diaxalin. Stop taking multivitamin and fish oil. Eating lean meats, oatmeal, leafy veggies, yogurt, coffee and water, almond milk with protein powder, organic peanut bars.
9. Tired and no energy. Upset and worried. History of colon cancer in family, etc. Notice I’ve lost a couple pounds, but nothing crazy. Not exercising and tired.
10. Move up appointment with GI. Try to rest. More and more stressed and energy up and down. Getting more depressed and frightened.

Can be possible IBS.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your complaint, it seems that you are suffering from irritable bowel syndrome.when you have nothing or all your investigations are normal you are labelled as having IBS.
Foods, stress and other diseases can trigger the problem.
However the exact cause of irritable bowel syndrome is not yet known.
Initially i would suggest you to go for colonoscopy and stool microscopy test.If both these tests are normal i would like to start you on-
Tab cibis 8mg thrice daily(contains Chlordiazepoxide, Clidinium Bromide, and Dicyclomine) consult your local pharmacy for this salt combination.
Eat simple and natural home cooked food.
If possible try detox diet (Raw vegans) for at least 3 month. Take normal food in lunch while in supper take uncooked raw (low fiber) natural form of food. This can play wonders.
Avoid taking excessive fibres. A total fiber intake of about 20-25 gram per day would be good for you.
No pizza,Burger, Red meat, and dairies for few weeks.
No alcohol or smoking.

As to take natural food rich in probiotics like Yoghurt, Kimchi, etc. This doesn't mean that you have to take them as much as you can.Follow your body increase their uptake gradually.
Drink lots of juices and fresh water daily. Drink cleaner water, it will help a lot.
Avoid over spicy and heavy food.
Thanks!
