15 Year Old With Severe Stomach Pain And Constipation .
Question: 15 year old with severe stomach pain and constipation. Taking laxatives, enemas for over a week with very little relief. Is there a test that would show if his gall bladder is not functioning properly?

All medication were prescribed by physician. This problem has been going on off an on for over three years. No recommendation for colonoscopy or any further treatment. The doctor does an exray to determine that his colon is backed up. Just prescribes these medications and tell us to wait it out!!

3 years is a long time to suffer in an young boy hence needs the following:
Proper clinical evaluation by a Gastroenterologist.
Relevant investigations:
Tests of stool for 3 consecutive days.
Tests of blood, particularly thyroid, liver and pancreas.
CT scan of abdomen.
Colonoscopy as you have correctly mentioned.
All these can help to get a proper diagnosis which is very important for proper management.
Just symptomatic treatment will not help.
Hence request for a reference to a Gastroenterologist.
