Question: 1st - I have severe anxiety And fear a heart attack. I went to the ER because I was having chest pain & tightness for the past three days and felt like I was Spaced out and when I went they did an EKG and the first EKG said abnormal but when they read it they said it wasn’t anything to worry about It was abnormal with nonspecific ST abnormality. They took blood all the blood work came back good the troponin was like .0015 is that considered negative? They did an EKG right before I left and it came back normal, but said normal compared to ecg performed earlier, so is it really normal? Does this sound like a heart problem I should worry about?

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,

I've gone through your medical details and attached reports.
I can understand your concern.

I would like to inform that all your cardiac workup came out normal which means your heart is fine and you need not be worried.

The automated machine gives their own interpretations which are not correct all the time and that is why the doctors are there to decide if ECG is normal or not.

I’ve reviewed your both ECGs and there are apparently normal and those non-specific ST changes are also part of normal findings.

Your Troponin also came back normal which is another sign of your heart is fine.

Your symptoms seemed to be of anxiety which is why yoga and meditation are recommended for you. If even after that you face these symptoms again then you can give a try to anxiolytic drugs.

Hopefully, this information will guide you. Feel free to ask further.

Kind Regards
Dr. Bhanu Partap
