35 Year Old Female, 5'10" And145 Lbs. I Overate By

Question: 35 year old female, 5'10" and145 lbs. I overate by a lot and am really uncomfortable. I ate approximately 4oz of cooked quinoa spaghetti (2 full plate servings), with shredded chicken, equivalent to the size of a large 8 oz chicken breast. I feel very bloated and like I could possibly throw up, but I'm not. I do overeat frequently. Is it possible that my stomach could burst from eating this much in this one sitting? In this case, is it better to help myself throw up? I have never thrown up from overeating my adult life, but have as a child.

Brief Answer:
Your provisional diagnosis : Acute gastritis with indigestion

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to the 'Ask A Doctor service'.
I have reviewed your query and below is my opinion and answer of two questions asked by you.

It seems to be acute gastritis with indigestion due to overeating. Bolimia maybe also be there.

1.Your stomach will not burst due to overeating. But functional indigestion and gas problem can develop. In sever case diarrhea as well can occur.

2.If you throw up then it will help in emptying stomach or else no help in relieving gastric irritation. So purposefully throwing up is not advisable.

I suggest you following measures to help you.

-Take semisolid diet and Bland diet for next two days.

-Avoid intake of excess spicy foods

-Avoid smoking, alcohol for next few days if applicable

-Avoid taking stress if applicable

-excess tea, coffee should be restricted if applicable

-cooked oatmeal help in soothing stomach

-Take rabeprazole tablet OD for five days

-Try to get rid from habit of overeating

If you have any other complaint then mention it.

Hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if you have any questions in mind.

Best regards.
