38 Year Old Male. For Around Six Weeks, I Have
Question: 38 year old male. For around six weeks, I have had intermittent pain on, or directly under, my right side lower rib. I have had no trauma to this area that I can recall. It is not tender to the touch, but would occasionally feel sore. Due to elevated AST/ALT in November, I had an abdominal ultrasound completed. Everything was normal, including liver. The pain now includes soreness on the lower right side of my rib cage. It is, for example, uncomfortable if I sleep on my right side. There is a bit of tenderness on the side. I had a rib x-ray series, showing no abnormality/fracture/lesion of the visualized areas, including the ribs and thoracic spine.
What am I missing? I am concerned about things like leukemia manifesting as rib bone pain, although I had a completely normal CBC as recently as 30 October, and have no other symptoms. I had also concern about other bone malignancy, but I suppose the x-ray, although not 100% sensitive, is a good sign.

Brief Answer:
Most probably costochondritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Noted your detailed history and understood the concerns.
As per the history you have provided, I would think of costochondritis as the most probable cause. Lower ribs are flouting and have cartilage.
Please discuss this with your Doctor and get treated accordingly. Watch for liver function, thyroid functions - doses to be taken adjusted by your Doctor as per the reports.
Stick-on skin strap 4'' X 6-8 ''on the affected area in deep exhalation phase of respiration may help to improve symptoms, helps healing.
Please give feedback and take care.
