Question: 8 weeks in, sore inner knee, 58 years old very active (ice hockey, golf, running). Can't do anything right now, seeing a Physiotherapist and Osteo- some improvement. MRI results "fraying of inferior surface and free edge of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus but no tear noted". Where do I go from here? Rice? Physio? knee brace for activities? cortisone? Please advise. Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Degenerative changes in the knee joint.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

The fraying of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus is suggestive of the degenerative changes in the knee. You need to start with RICE and using an elastic knee brace. Joint lubricant supplements will also help.

After the pain subsides physiotherapy can be started for long term relief. Cortisone shot is advised if there is no pain relief with other oral pain killers.

I hope this answers your query.
