A blood count of 25,000 is acceptable in a infant (child below 1 yr age). Whether 28,500 is to be considered significant depends upon the clinical picture. However, since CRP Ais raised it would have been preferable to have antibiotics started. As of now, assuming that antibiotics have not been started, I would insist you to wait and watch, especially because the blood count has started coming down. Antibiotics need not be started unless there is clinical worsening. Give paracetamol if there is fever.
