FINDINGS: The liver is normal in size and echogenicity. There is no
focal hepatic mass. The gallbladder is normal in configuration. A
polyp/adherent stone is seen in the gallbladder measuring 0.4 cm. The
gallbladder wall is not thickened. The intrahepatic and extrahepatic
bile ducts are not dilated. The common duct measures 0.2 cm in
diameter. The spleen is normal in size and echoes, and measures 7.0 cm
in length. No focal lesion is seen. Both kidneys appear normal in size
and configuration. They show normal echoes with preserved corticomedullary
differentiation and cortical thickness. There is no renal mass,
calculus, hydronephrosis or perinephric fluid. The bipolar lengths of
the right and left kidneys measure 10.0 cm and 9.1 cm respectively.
There is a lobulated hyperechoic lesion in the mid pole of left kidney
measuring 1.3 cm. The visualized pancreatic head and body appear
unremarkable. There is no free fluid seen in the upper abdomen.
IMPRESSION: 1. Small gallbladder polyp/adherent stone. 2. A 1.3 cm
hyperechoic lesion is seen in the mid pole of left kidney. This may
represent a complex cyst with calcification or an angiomyolipoma.

Brief Answer:
Need further investigations

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts that you have posted you have been detected to have hyperechoic mass of a size of 1.3 cm in middle pole of left kidney which is reported to be either a complex cyst or a benign tumor like Angiomyolipoma .

Though the size of the mas is 1.3 it needs to be investigated further to establish diagnosis and to differentiate whether it is a complex (Bosniac ) Cyst or Angiomyolipoma .

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following following tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) C.T Scan of Abdomen (Plain and with contrast)
3) C T Angiogram
4) MRI

Normally tumor of a sizeof less than 3 cm and without history of any bleeding episode do not require active treatment except periodic check up at 6 months interval by doing ultrasound Scanning .

.Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Dear Doctor,
Thank You so much for your advice, it was indeed a big relief!

Our only follow-up question is - if we need to monitor this every 6 months, does that imply it is not benign ? Are there any other tests that can assure us that this is 100% benign ? What risk are we monitoring for in the future?

Please let us know so that we can be assured in this regard. Your experience and insights is sincerely appreciated.

Thanks!
