Re-examined is helpful to find out any other problem if you are not improve
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question Timgula. Hope I can be of help for you today. Through reading your query I would like to help you with this question. Sorry that you got treatment with your ear infection but not yet improve from Penicillin. Normally the duration of therapy for mild to moderate infection we do give about five to seven days, and if severe infection (hearing loss, severe pain, and/or marked tympanic membrane erythema) we antibiotic for 10 days. With this appropriate antibiotic therapy, most patients with acute otitis media (ear infection) are should be improved within 48 to 72 hours. You got Penicillin 10 days already and still not improve, you should go to your doctor back for re-examined. You may have developed a new focus of infection or have received inadequate therapy. I may recommend you a higher dose of antibiotic or choose another antibiotic group. Talk to your doctor which is the best options for you.
I hope that can help you, and please let me know if you have any clarification or question about that, and I would be welcome to discuss it with you further.
Best regards,
Dr. Heang Chan Raksmey, General and Family Physician
