A Large Vein, Right At The Junction Of My Right

Question: A large vein, right at the junction of my right leg and my crotch, is bulging. I cannot identify any cause of this; it just materialized a couple of days ago. Painful to the touch, and there is a general feeling of "something not right" down there even when not being touched. Sort of feels like I have been kicked in the testicle.
Brief Answer:
Probably an abscess
Detailed Answer:
Hi Glennbogart,
What you describe sounds like an abscess. Completely benign, but irritating. It would help greatly if could send a photo of it. Usually an abscess requires drainage under either local or general anaesthesia.
Best wishes.

I had a very aggressive digital rectal exam a couple of days before I first noticed this problem. Could that be the cause?
Also, do I need to see a doctor right away for this, or might it go away on its own?

Brief Answer:
That is unlikely
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
I would say that it is unlikely to be related to The rectal exam. You can easily wait and watch for a few days, and if it gets worse (increasing pain, fever) then you should see your doctor. Try an NSAID and aspirin for these days.
Hope this helps.
