Question: A while back I took some magnesium powder. Since I was on my way to bed I drank it really fast. When I woke up I started getting heart palpitations. It's been a few months and it is still here even though I stopped taking the powder. I feel dizzy but it's not your normal dizzy. It's like inside my head is moving. I also sometimes low iron. I don't know if any of these symptoms are correlated but I just need to know what I can do to get me back to normal.

Kindly refer to detailed answer below

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,

I've gone through the medical query and I would like to tell you the common side effect of magnesium powder is gastritis which can vary from normal to severe. Palpitations episode can be related to gastritis after taking magnesium powder but dizziness is not related to this.

I would like to know at times you feel dizzy like while changing your position or every time and kindly let me know if you feel any kind of blackout episode. I would like to know few more about your medical history to give a proper opinion on your query

1 Your Age

2. Your work profile

3. Do you smoke or take alcohol

4. Are you taking any medication for any particular disease, if yes then kindly name it?

5. If you are suffering from cervical problems

Kindly revert back with required details for further information.

Kind Regards
Dr. Bhanu Partap

Hello Again

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the feedback.

I would like to suggest you to kindly get two basic cardiac screening tests done to rule out any underlying cardiac electrophysiological or structural abnormalities which might be causing the symptoms.

1. Echocardiogram
2. Holter Monitoring

Kindly consult your primary physician once and get these tests done.

Kind Regards

I also remember drinking hard liquor really fast and hours later in major stomach pain. That's when I believe the dizziness started and I did black out randomly for a second months after that. I believe the alcohol might have caused a hernia cause maybe 3x I felt my insides slither out and then go back in. do you think that is what's causing the anemia (dizziness and palpitations)?

Hello again

It doesn't go that way and all of what you are assuming is not right. Just get the tests done and then revert back to me with the reports.
