A Year Ago, I Was Working As A TA, Though

Question: A year ago, I was working as a TA, though I took care of editing the course textbook (editor), tutoring and grading the students, managing the course content and presentations (co-instructor). I was twenty-six. Due to digestive problems I've had since a teenager, I've gotten used to fasting or skipping meals when sick or stressed, to avoid worsening my condition. At that time, I rarely ate more than one meal a day, split between lunch and dinner. One week, I only had about 6-8 hours of sleep over the span of 3 days. By the time I finished my work, I had a bit of trouble breathing, my vision was black at the edges, my head felt dizzy and I don't know if it was my heart but it felt like my heart was trying to pump gasoline. Since I was working from home, I went to bed and slept for fifteen hours. I've always had problems with eating and stress, I used to have problems with sleep as a kid but I make sure to get adequate sleep. I'm just wondering though, if there may have been anything significant about that one time, and though it's a year later, if getting myself checked will matter.

Brief Answer:
No need to see a doctor at this time!!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about what you have been experiencing. The 15hours sleep is compensatory for the several days you went without having adequate sleep. Your symptoms are also consistent with sleep deprivation. My advice is that you should always endeavor to get averagely 8hours of sleep daily to be at your best and function to the highest possible level. Regularly scheduled meals such as breakfast, lunch and supper allow the body to better ync and function better. I will not encourage you continue to skip meals as this causes so much disruption and dysfunction.

There is no need to see a doctor at this time. Should anything else come up, kindly discuss with me.

I hope this addresses your query and helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me as appropriate.
