Adverse To The Botox Injections Scheduled For Next Week?
Question: Hi, doctor. Just a quick question. The dentist found an infection in a tooth and I am currently on an antibiotic. I have a botox appointment scheduled for next week. Hoping the two are mutually exclusive but to be sure, would this tooth infection (which is under treatment) and/or the antibiotic interfere or be adverse to the botox injections scheduled for next week? Thanks so much.
Brief Answer:
Please provide the generic name of the antibiotic.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
I have read your question.
There are a number of antibiotics that can result in important adverse effects if used simultaneously with botulinum toxin injections.
So, provide the name of the antibiotic in order for me to be more specific in my answer.
Waiting.

It is amoxocillin - that will somewhat still be in system. Still advisable to postpone botox?
And thanks, doctor.
And thanks, doctor.
Brief Answer:
I would explain as follows.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
There are no significant interactions between botulinum toxin injections and amoxicillin, so, you are good to go with the injections one or two days after stopping amoxicillin.
I hope this helps.
Take care.

Just a quick follow up. My family doctor just gave an option he said to run by you since it takes so long to get into appointment for Botox. He said another option is to hold off on dental work until after Botox. Question is how long after botox injections would be safe to have a tooth extracted/implant?
Doctor, apologies and no need to answer prior questions. Tooth pain is such that dental issues must be done first. However, because it involves two side by side teeth both with fractures that need implants, my family doctor wants me to ask you since extractions and implants are quite invasive, would it be better to have one tooth done at a time vs. concurrent? I ask due to severe TN2 going on - on that side. Thank u so much and this is the only question u need answer. And I apologize again since I know how busy u are.

Hello again.
I have read your new question.
In my opinion, both teeth can be extracted during one procedure to avoid the discomfort of two procedures in different time.
Hope this helps. Take care.
