Are AREDS Vitamins Effective At Preventing Macular Degeneration?

Question: I have been diagnosed with macular degeneration (the dry type). Does taking AREDS vitamins help with the prevention of getting the wet type of macular degeneration?

Is there anything else I can do that will help? I am a nonsmoker.

However, the AREDS formulations may delay progression of advanced macular degeneration and help you keep your vision longer if you have intermediate macular degeneration, or advanced macular degeneration in one eye.
