Are Clomid And Urofollitropin Injections The Right Medication When Planning For Pregnancy?
Question: Hi I was on clomid 200mg from day5-day9. Dr said i have follicles in both the ovaries measuring upto 8mm approx. On day 10, the size of the follicle at both the ovaries were 10*12mm. She gave me a urofollitropin injection of 150IUnits and when checked on day 12, she noted a follicle size as 12*15mm in the right ovary and ET as 5.4. She gave me another shot of 150IUnits of urofollitropin injection on day 12 and have asked me to come on day 14. She said if the follicle has reached a desire size of atleast 18mm, i would shot hcg injection. I am very much nervous whether my body is responding to the medicines properly and wanted to know whether the follicle will reach the desired size on day 14.
Brief Answer:
protocol is fine and you are responding...
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
thanks for the query to HCM,
The protocol followed is correct. Ans its a high dose protocol with start of clomid from 200mg from day 5-9. Ideally it should be started from day 2-7.
It is seen that the follicles are growing and the desire size of follicle is 18-20 mm when hcg injections to be given anticipating that the ovulation would occur in next 36 hrs. Ovulation is impending if the follicle size is 22-24 mm.
So please follow what your physician is advising you. I agree with his approach.
regards

Thank you soo much for responding sir. I have been prescribed with oosure and emgra tablets in addition to take both morning and night. I am often getting headaches and also have some kind of depressive feel or irritated feel at times and more often moving away from people and sitting alone. Would these be due to the medicines am taking? If so which medicine does this? Previously i had been with clomid cycle of 100mg but it got interrupted due to personal reasons. I didnt get my periods at all last time and also tested negative for pregnancy test. Periods came automatically after one month and from there i have been prescribed 200mg of clomid

Detailed Answer:
hello,
the symptoms of headache , listlessness and often depressive moods that you are experiencing is because of EMGRA medicine which is an oestrogen and these are its common effects when the levels tend to fluctuate. however it is important during an infertility work up.
if you didn't respond to 100mg clomid , then it should have been increase by 50mg ideally , but as you have already been started on 200 mg and showing response, you need to be monitored for hyper stimulation of ovaries under urofollitropin support. Rest of the protocol is as mentioned earlier and you have to wait for th follicles to grow and then ovulate.
