Are HIV 4th Generation And RNA Tests Conducted 5 Weeks Post Exposure Conclusive?
Question: Hello. I have another hiv question. I thought I was being careful but I am worried that I may have got hiv from kissing. I didn't notice any cuts in my mouth or ktaste any blood. But I am worried that if there was a small cut on our lips that I could have got hiv that way. I got a 4th generation hiv and rna test at 5 weeks and it came back neagtive. I am going to get retested next week at the 12 week mark. But I am having alot of anxiety.

Brief Answer:
Yes 5 week is enough time .
Detailed Answer:
hiv transmission from saliva can take only when there is cut or ulcer in oral cavity.
5 weeks is appropriate timing as hiv antigen and RNA can be detected during that period .
further you need to be tested at 3,6 and 12 month of period for hiv antibody .
hope it will solve your doubt .
