Question: Are SGLT2 inhibitions safe?
I have been prescribed AJADUO 10/5 . want to know if it's safe
Brief Answer:
They are approved for type 2 diabetes, can rarely cause urinary infections
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr Gurucharan,
Thanks for your query.
SGLT2 inhibitors are approved for use in Type-2 diabetic patients after clearing comprehensive safety regulations.
But they do come with warnings, and the most serious of these include urinary tract infections as these medicines cause Kidneys to remove blood sugar through urine.

Do they cause kidney issues long term
Brief Answer:
As far as the available evidence suggests, they are safe.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr Gurucharan,
Thank you for the follow-up.
As far as the available literature suggests, these drugs are safe and also are kidney protective.
Since these medicines are considerably newer, there is not a lot of literature regarding their long term effects on kidneys, but many long term studies conducted do suggest that these drugs do protect kidneys.
I hope that answers your query.
