Are STD Tests Done 12 Weeks Post Exposure Conclusive?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Dec 2016
Question: I continue to experience physical symptoms even after all STD testing came back negative following unprotected sex 14 weeks ago with someone I only knew for a couple of days when I was away from home on business. I had tests for Hep A, B and C, HSV 1 and 2, HIV, Syphilis, gonorrhea, Trich (at 3 weeks only) and chlamydia at 3, 6, 9 and 12 weeks after exposure.

Symptoms include discolored urine especially when not diluted and some of what feels like kidney discomfort or maybe liver too. Also consistent tingling in the groin and thighs. I was also experiencing notable discomfort with frequent feeling to want to urinate and some minor burning sensations on the penis but never did I have any burning sensations while urinating nor did I observe and discharge from my penis. The frequent urge to urinate has subsided considerable in the last week to ten days.

I should mention that my PCP doctor thinks this is psychosomatic because I've been married for a long time and I have kids at home. I am very ashamed of my conduct considering my family situation and I pretty much slipped into a depressive state immediately following this incident. My doctore first tried Zanex to help with anxiety but he quickly put me on Zoloft.

I'd like to know how much faith I can put in the STD tests. If it isn't an STI then what could it be? It's just very difficult for me to not feel like my body is fighting some sort of infection. Thank you for your assistance.

Brief Answer:
Don't be worried as I don't feel it's any STD.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,
Thanks for posting your query to HCM .

As I understand you are concern about STD but don't need to be worried as your all test for STD found negative there is least chances of any such disease .

Further your clinical feature also do not suggest such kind any illness .

Urinary complaints could be due to some infection for which you need to undergo -

1. microscopic examination of urine
2. Ultra sound examination of KUB
3. complete blood count

This all test will help us making diagnosis and suggest further treatment plan .
Thanks . Feel free to contact further

1. I'm submitting my full blood work test results to you from back in the middle of September which was 2-3 weeks after exposure. I've also had two urinalysis tests at the recommendation of both my PCP and urologist in September and October. Everything in those urine samples was negative. Two of these results came back in the "High" range at the time.

2. Should I have any concerns about sexual transmission of anything to my wife?

Thank you for your assistance doctor:
