Are Abdominal Pain, Joint Pain And Sore Throat Indicative Of HIV?
Question: Hello Doctor,
I had sex with a massage girl whose status hiv status is unknown. It is a protected sex. but during the sex the condom has slipped for 30 to 40 seconds. after a week I got flu symptoms, then lower right abdominal pain, Joint pains and sore throat. I have consulted the Sexologist and I have taken HIV -1 RNA QUANTITATIVE @(Real Time PCR) after 6 weeks(on 45th day). the result came as target Not Detected. my doctor told that this is 100% conclusive and this is being used to detect the actual HIV virus and no further HIV testing is Required.now it's more than three months my sore throat and I could see a kind of patch which is like an infected area, And edge of my tongue Is turned to ash colour and some block dots developed front tip of tongue. is that HIV test is conclusive or still I need to take further HIV test. I am HSV1 positive which I have from past 6 months before of this exposure and the HSV1 IGG result came as 22.4. this was untreated for past 6 months as I was not aware that my girlfriend had it.and after this incident started medication for this. How accurate this 6 weeks HIV test.

Thanks for the reply sir. Do you mean hiv 1 one at 45 th day is conclusive with pcr test. But could be possibility of hiv2. I had given test for Western blot and result would be available tomorrow end of the day. If my above described symptoms are not related to hiv, Could you please let me know what else could be that. Does untreated HSV1 would have caused those problems. Please reply me.

Thanks for the reply doctor. the westren blot test result came as negitive. I have taken this test at 110 days.
I have few questions to get clarified doctor.Please answer these questions. these questions are running from many days and scared to get marry because of this.
1. what ever the tests(HSV2,HepatatisB test, VDRL,CBC URINE test) which I have taken at 6 weeks is it conclusive or should I need to repeat those tests again. Should I need to go any other tests apart from these.
2.From the time which I found I am hsv1 postive. I have been suffering from runny nose most of the times and getting attacked to cold very easily my sore throat is still there for all most for past 5 months. consulted many ENT experts from the best hospitals in banglore. they would bot be able to figure out anything. I have used farmcyclovir for past 52 days and my doctor told that dosage is enough. should I need to continue those medicine again. to get rid of my throat problems?
3.If I have sex with my parter , will it go to my partner as well. My doctor told that as this is oral herpes. this will never spread to my partner.is it correct?. if it's spread to my partner will it spread to baby also if my wife is pregnant.

Antiviral famcyclovir can be stopped.Preventive antiviral therapy can be taken under supervision of doctor.
HSV1 can be transmitted to others by Kiss or skin to skin contact.Transmission is higher when active lesions are present.So care should be taken when active lesions are present .
The symptoms of oral lesions can be due to deficiencies, stress , infections.Please send clear photos of lesion for clarification.
Throat swab test can be taken for sore throat.Blood culture can be done.you can consult a physician or ENT specialist .

thanks a ton for the reply Dr Bharatesh D Basti. I have uploaded the pics of my throat. you could see a kind of red dots and on the top of the tongue and you could see a kinds of bubbles at the back of the tongue.
Before 6 months the back of tongue is very plain and clear. after once I cached this HSV1 from then it has changed like this. could you please advice me what test should I need to go to get back of my throat to normal how ever it use to be before Or else should I be having any other disease.

Increased vascularity and tonsils enlargement is seen in throat. So you can take an ENT opinion for the same.
Take some vitamin supplements (like A to Z tablets) for your tongue changes. It may be due to nutritional deficiencies.
Consult dermatologist for smear , or for biopsy if does not subside.
you can consult any dermatologist for preventive therapy near your place or in a reputed corporate hospitals or medical colleges.
Take warm water regularly. Do saline gargles.
there is nothing to worry.
