Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX welcome to HCM.
Your concern is understandable.
As an Urologist, let me give you an expert opinion. You're prone to have urethritis.
Inflammation of the outlet from bladder is the urethra. It need not be urinary infection. Severe inflammation or urethritis, is seen in people with the kind of symptoms you're having, especially in diabetics.
Your doctor would have checked your kidney function tests and done an ultrasound abdomen. The other test is a cystoscopy to confirm the changes.
If these are not done, it would be good option to report back and discuss about it.
Your doctor may prescribe bladder relaxants, to relieve the frequency and urge.
