
Are Blood Transfusions Required Prior To Dental Surgery In A Person With Low Platelet Count?

Question: Because of low platelets my dentist said a transfusion will be needed before removal of 4 teeth for a partial plate to be put in.Is this normal for a dentist to ask me for?

So preoperative transfusion of platelet are more effective in prevention of postoperative hemorrhage in patient undergoing extraction (removal of teeth) .
