Are Bowel Movements More Than Once Every Morning And After A Workout Normal?
Question: Assuming I eat enough fiber in my diet. but every morning I don't get fresh in one go. as soon as I wake up, I consume around 750ml to1lt water and then go to washroom. spend good 15 minutes and finish the job. post that I take 2gm beta alanine and a scoop of pre workout before hitting the gym. during weight lifting, I have to again go to the washroom and spend another 15 minutes. why can't I get fresh in one go at home ? my diet includes around 100gms of carbs, 150gms of protein and around 70gms of fat thereby making a total of 1800cals. I consume around 5lts water daily.
Brief Answer:
Normal bowel movements
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Frequency of bowel movements depends on a few factors like age, daily activities and your diet. Ideally the frequency could range from thrice daily to even three times a week. It is perfectly normal in your case in respect to the amount of water intake and your daily workout.
I would not be worried about this.
But if you have noticed any recent increase in your frequency of having bowel movements, or any symptoms of gastric irritation, please revert back with your details.
I hope this helps,
Regards

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Thanks for the follow up,
Like I said, is this increased frequency of bowel movements recent or has it always been your daily routine?
Also increased amounts of fiber in your diet can result in frequent bowels.
Do you also have frequent bowels throughout the day or is it just in the mornings?
Meanwhile, I would suggest you to do the following:
- Take T. OMEZ 20mg daily half hour before breakfast for 2 weeks.
- Take VSL#3 daily, this is a prebiotic which should help with any bowel irritation causing you increased bowels.
- Avoid caffeinated drinks and beverages. Also avoid alcohols.
- Avoid milk products.
- Avoid fiber rich foods like peas, beans, oatmeal, citrus fruits, bananas.
- Also certain disease can cause this symptom like Crohn's, hyperthyroidism, coeliac disease etc. Therefore need to look out for any food triggers to exclude other pathology.
I hope this helps,
Regards
