Are Breathlessness And Excessive Sweating After A Short Walk Indicative Of A Medical Condition While Having Cholesterol And Arthritis?
Question: Mom is really sweating a lot after a short walk and is breathless after short walk. She is getting tired also. She has cholesterol and artheristis. No diabetes. Had got the annual checkup done early this year and all was normal. She has put up some weight too.
Has irregular sleeping patterns and is constantly complaining about not able to sleep in night or afternoon.

There are couple of things I am assuming before addressing this concern:
1. That she was able to walk the distance without breathlessness earlier. The current symptoms of breathlessness and tiredness was not there earlier.
2. There are no other symptoms besides breathlessness, tiredness, sleeping irregularities and sweating. If there are other symptoms such as chest pain, palpitations, swelling of limbs, weight changes and so on, please specify in the follow up.
Breathlessness after an accustomed activity (grade 2 breathlessness) associated with sweating can be associated with anemia or a cardiovascular conditions. Baseline cardiac evaluation and few blood tests including complete hemogram are necessary to rule out medical conditions. I will recommend that she visits a doctor and get these done. If the tests are already performed, I would like to review them. You can upload the results on this site.
