Brief Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM

Detailed Answer:
It is not the same actually. Congestive heart failure can be left-sided or right sided. There are many degrees of both conditions and left sided failure if progresses, will lead to right-sided failure and opposite. COnsidering your history of COPD and edema I suppose that there is right sided failure in your case since copd is risk factor of it and symptoms usually begin with edemas, ascites, dyspnea, neck veins stasis, hepatomegaly. Heart failure isnt common in your age and I hope that this is still early phase which is treatable. Just follow doctors recommendations.
WIsh you good health. Feel free to ask. Regards

Should I be concerned with all the medications that I am on? My blood pressure keeps going up and pulse rate. I never had any health issues until I had 3 back surgery's and am now in a wheelchair. It scares me because so many specialist and my family doctor prescribe meds. I try to make sure they all are kept aware of what the others prescribe. Should I be doing something different? This has been going on since 1999 and I know the stress from worrying about my health does not help. Thank You!

Brief Answer:
hi

Detailed Answer:
Could you write all meds that you are taking.
You should take only those medicines which have more benefit than disadvantages.
I understand your concerns and I am sure that this is not easy for you. You need all support from doctors, nurses and your family. The most important thing at this point is to stop further heart damage by preventing high blood pressure, high sugar and lipids. You need to regulate body mass and avoid smoking and alcohol. These lifestyle and dietary changes will be more helpful than meds.
But those meds which are neccesary for normal heart, lungs and kidney functioning should be continued.

Brief Answer:
Hi

Detailed Answer:
This is extreme amount of drugs and you should definitely reconsider its neccesity so consult your doctors about it. It can definitely lead to many side effects and interactions and I dont know how can someone be advised to take more than 20 drugs in your age of which many are too strong for such liberal use. You should take 1-2 antihypoertensive and maximally 2 anti-anxiety-depresssants and maximally 2 painkillers. Inhalers should be continued.

Thank you for you reply!
There is a full sheet of meds missing from what was sent. I misplaced it. Is there a Specialist that can deal with any medical conditions and that may help me with getting off some of these meds.? If so, could you tell me the type of specialist it is so I can see if there is one where I live. I know these meds. are making me feel worse and I am to the point where I am having a hard time getting to my wheelchair because I fall from being light headed and no balance.
Thank you for your help and I promise this will be my last question.

Brief Answer:
hi

Detailed Answer:
no problem, you can ask me whatever you want.
Just one specialist cant solve this problems since you have multiple morbidities and you should see several specialist: cardiologist, neurologist, psychiatrist, pain specialist. You should try to have appointment with all of them at same time and they should together decide which drugs can be canceled and leave only important ones and those with proven benefit. I dont know exact names in your area, but these specialists should be able to handle with your problems. this is really too long list of medicines, and it expected that you will have certain side effects.
