Question: a 28 year woman( presently lactating ) taking two drinks one early in the morning on an empty stomach and the other late in the night before going to bed. The drinks are: 1) carrom water(soaked overnight ) with honey and lemon ( on empty stomach early morning) 2) boiling the ingredients ( cinnamon ,sage, mint, ginger, beetle leaf) adding honey after it gets cool and drinking . I want to know Is it okay to take these drinks by a breast feeding mom ( baby Is 4 months old)

Brief Answer:

Explained below

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Taking either of the drinks is perfectly normal during breastfeeding due to their multiple benefits.

However including sage even in small amounts in daily drinks can cause a decrease in milk supply.

Therefore I would suggest it best to avoid this component totally in the second drink that she takes daily.

You may choose to add sage during the time of weaning which is if the baby is beyond 6 months of age.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
